Bridget Hapner

Hi, I’m Bridget! I am a Lead Product Designer with 12 years of experience in SaaS, consulting, and civic tech. I excel at clarifying the ambiguous and designing accessible, intuitive products.

〰 About me 〰

I love building trust and a culture of design in engineering environments so my team can solve the right problems together. I currently work at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Advanced Computing and Simulation organization. Prior, I worked in civic tech with The Department of Veterans Affairs. I began my UX career at digital agency R/GA, where I worked with clients like Vizient, Advent Health, and Verizon. I earned an Masters of Science in Technology and Humanities from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), completing a customized degree in subjects like AI ethics, technology history, business strategy, and research methods. Outside of work, you can find me hiking (and then recovering from hiking). My favorite trail I’ve hiked so far is the Skyline Loop at Mount Rainier.

〰 The work I’m most proud of 〰

Enterprise UX design to enable large-scale computing workloads.
Large computing workloads are complicated and time intensive to run. At AWS, I lead UX design for AWS Batch, a service that optimized planning, scheduling, and executing of computing workloads. By designing intuitive interfaces for complex tasks, my work empowers researchers and engineers to push the boundaries of what's possible in the cloud.

Mobile app design to reduce burdens on Veterans.
For the 9 million Veterans accessing VA health care and benefits, interacting with The Department of Veterans Affairs can come with a number of pain points. I led end-to-end product design for VA: Health and Benefits, a native app that simplifies routine tasks for Veterans. Today, the app has over 2M downloads and 1M monthly active users. I am grateful and proud to have been a part of this work.
